A quick heads up before we jump into our note – today’s episode is a discussion that may be triggering for some. And if there are any little ears around, you may want to pop some headphones in.
This week’s episode of the podcast is extra special because we have TWO guests with us! And we have a discussion on the most controversial topic we’ve delved into so far on the show – Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C).
This episode we have the privilege of talking to activist and FGC survivor Mariya Taher as shares her story and insight with us. Dr. Ghada Khan also joins us to share her experience working as an advocate and educator in this field.
This is not the same old conversation about FGM/C. The ladies were honest, raw, and open about both their struggles and about what keeps them going in doing work that is so controversial and emotionally taxing.
This is an issue that’s become rather pervasive in the Muslim community in recent years and something that we still have a lot to learn about.
These uncomfortable topics are hard to talk about, but the conversations are absolutely worth having and we thank our guests for joining us for an eye-opening and powerful episode.
