I give myself permission to pursue things that bring me joy.
This year, I’m making an effort to be more intentional throughout each day. And one thing that I’d love to experience more mindfully is joy.
In this season of early motherhood, my son is teaching me so much about choosing moments of joy. When I’m in a rush to clean up breakfast or make the bed – he often just wants me to stop and play with him. And I have such a hard time with this. I want to get the “chores” over with so I can feel more relaxed and give him my full attention.
But I’ve been realizing that some days taking a few minutes to just stop and focus on what he wants to do can make all the difference for us both. When I can release my need to be productive and give myself permission to be fully present with him, it brings us both so much joy. These moments to pause and play are usually the exact reset that I need.
What’s your relationship with joy like? Do you give yourself a chance to stop and fully experience it?
Peace and blessings,
Hanaa
